Since this site was sold, the new owner of VirtualDN has lost interest. But I got a response from him! We're in talks right now.

Frequently Asked Questions
- How does this game work? What is it?
vDN is a place where industry newcomers can learn the values and skills of domaining without any risk involved - no money, no actual TM issues, etc. However, it's a simulation so we should treat TM-infringing names like they would be in the real world (e.g. Microsoft.com). You buy/sell/register/auction/discuss, etc, virtual domains here - it's a learning place and a soon-to-be thriving market. (Virtual of course.)
- Is there any real money, domains, or legal issues in this simulation?
No - ALL transactions are with the fake game money, and no real domain discussion is allowed - ONLY vDN names. As for law, there is nothing that says "fake domain names are also bound by these laws", however, it is a new concept so it may be attacked by some aggresive companies such as Microsoft. HOWEVER, development of a virtual name to imitate a real website related to that domain MAY be incriminating and interpreted as a phishing site! Just a word of CAUTION!
- Can I develop sites onto my virtual domains? If so, how?
Yes! You can! They'll have to be simple and PHP/Perl, etc, is not allowed, but you can still develop HTML sites onto your domains. First, you should point your domain's nameservers to:
NS1.VIRTUALDNSITES.COM
NS2.VIRTUALDNSITES.COM
You can do this any time but the site cannot be accessed without this step. Then, you can click "Build Websites" and copy+paste or type your HTML code. Then, click save and anybody may then access your domain like this:
virtualdn.com/yourdomain.com
That's all there is to it! It even keeps track of hits (not UNIQUES, just HITS) and are displayed in your domain details screen.
- Where does the money spent on domain registrations go? Does any 1 person, the administrator, get it?
No. It goes to a special account where the funds are used ONLY for the betterment of the site. For example, the $20 daily giveaway is funded by this account. In other words, the money is not used by and for a single person. It is used to benefit the entire site.
But the $20 giveaway goes to a single person... is probably what you're thinking. This is a temporary event that will only continue while the economy needs help - it's fickle at the beginning of the game, so this entices new domain registrations, which helps the economy.
More coming soon!
